You’ll find that just outside our front door is one of the largest fresh-water lakes in the world and out back is one of the nation’s finest wilderness areas. In addition, there is a great variety going on in the town of Grand Marais throughout the year.
Whatever you decide to do, you’ll need a place to call home while you’re here. If you’re looking for a clean and comfortable room that’s easy on the budget and just a stones throw from the hub of downtown, reserve your room at The Mangy Moose.
MOOSE HUS
The Mus Hus Has A Private Entry (8 Steps Down) Private Garden Patio With A Gas Grill. 1000 Sqft Apartment. It Is Independent Of The Motel, But On The Property Grounds Under The Coffee Bar. The Unit Consists Of A Living Area, Full Kitchen, Bathroom With A Bathtub/Shower, And Bedroom With King Foam Mattress Bed With A Goose Down Comforter.
Kitchen Includes Full Fridge/Freezer, Stove/Oven, Microwave, And Coffee Maker. This Unit Has Heat And A/C (Bedroom) And Two TV’s. 3-Night Rental Minimum. Adults Only, 2-Person Max. No Pets.
*Please note a family lives above the Moose Hus and sometimes noise travels downstairs.
ROOM #1 The Voyager
One King Bed With Roll In Shower. This Room Is A Larger Unit And Has A Private Outside Patio. There Is A View To The Lake From Outside The Room. There Is Not A Lake View From Inside.

One Queen Bed In Front Room & One Memory Foam King Bed In The Back Bedroom. Bathtub With Shower, No A/C.

Two Queen Beds And A Bathroom With A Bathtub/Shower. Separate Dry Bar Room With Microwave, Coffee Maker And Ice Bucket. No A/C.

One Queen Bed And A Bathroom With Shower. Drybar With Microwave, Coffee Maker And TV. No A/C. Adults Only, 2-Person Max. No Pets.

One Queen Bed And A Bathroom With Bathtub/Shower. Adults Only, 2-Person Max. No Pets.
*This Is A Smaller Room Suitable For A Single Person Or A Couple That Gets Along Well. For A Longer Stay, You May Want To Consider A Larger Room. No A/C.
Room #10 The Loons Nest
King Memory Foam Mattress With Goose Down Comforter, Dry Bar With Microwave, Coffee Maker, Mini Fridge, and Ice Bucket. Separate TV Sitting Area In The Back And TV in Bedroom As Well. Heat And A/C. Bathroom Has Bathtub/Shower. Has A Limited (Obstructed) View To The Lake Also No Outside Patio. Adults Only, 2-Person Max. No Pets.
Moose Policies
3 Night Minimum
Occasionally we can make an exception and offer 2 night stays. Please contact us if you would like to request a 2 night stay. That said, we ask that you please respect our 3 night minimum policy. Please do not book 3 nights with the intention of dropping one. If you must do so, you will be billed for all 3 nights, or subject to a cancellation. Of course you may book 3 nights and only stay for two.
Room Rates
Room rates do not include the sales tax of 12.38% and are based on a two-person occupancy. Please note that children and infants of any age are considered part of total occupancy of the room.
Room Capacity
All but two of our rooms have a 2-person max.
We have two rooms that can accommodate 2 adults.
Room #5 can be reserved for 2 adults and (1) or (2) children (Ages 5-18). This room does not accommodate more than 2 adults.
Please note room #7 has a max capacity of 3 people - 2 adults and 1 child.
Reservations
Rooms must be reserved with a major credit card. We charge a non-refundable 30% deposit plus taxes for our standard rooms and the Moose Hus. You will be charged the remaining balance on the morning of your arrival.
Cancellations
Cancellations made 10 days or less prior to arrival will be charged one night. The original deposit is not refundable. Please contact us at 1-218-370-0131 if you have any questions concerning this policy.
Outside of 10 days from reservation, the 30% non-refundable deposit has been processed upon booking. No other penalty will be incurred.
INSIDE of 10 days from reservation, 1 night penalty will be taken in addition to the deposit already processed."
Deposits
We charge a non-refundable 30% deposit plus taxes/fees for all our rooms. SINGLE NIGHT STAYS- the full room charge is taken upon booking and is non- refundable
No-Show Policy
No Show's will be charged the total trip cost.
Check-In
Ordinary check-in is 3 PM, however often times your room may be ready a little earlier. Once your room is ready, you will receive a text from us with your door code. Please make sure your cell number is on your reservation otherwise a check-in procedure is posted by the coffee bar entrance.
Check-Out
Check-out is at 10:00am or earlier.
Smoking
For the comfort of our guests, all rooms are smoke-free. But, a patio is available for those who do smoke. Please do not smoke on the steps to the rooms.
Pets
The Moose CANNOT accept pets: This includes "therapy and emotional support" pets- sorry! True service animals, as defined by The ADA are more than welcome of course. We love dogs, we have a dog. But in the interest of all guests, dogs (and all pets) are not allowed. Please understand we are a small (but busy) operation and not able to offer pet friendly rooms for some, while meeting room satisfaction for all. Sorry.
There are pet friendly rooms at larger hotels less than 500 yards away.
